SNEHA PATEL
Visual Art Practitioner
I've been the kind of person who has been observant of myself and the people around me, knowingly or unknowingly, most of my life trying to figure out all sorts of whys in terms of a person's behaviour or action, questioning things in the head and the one who understands a heated conversation differently than the people engaged in it. This has subsequently been reflected in my practice too.
I had pursued a commerce degree before I got myself into art professionaly. When I got into a fine arts college in 2016, for the first three years there, we only focused on developing skills, getting the lines done right while transfering the real object on a 2D surface giving an illusion of it being real and different other lessons. It's been only after that, I realised that art is not just skills and techniques but it's something more. Then I started looking out for my inner voice to start developing a practice towards which I can stay true.
In the past three years, I've learnt that once you enter into this world, there is no going back. The way you see the surroundings around you, changes. The way you think in general, changes. Your whole being takes on a turn. You start to feel differently about almost everything. And the journey here is like that snake and ladder game. You can't just go up-up-up all the time. Exactly when you'll think you've all figured it out, your brain will start playing with you.
Still whatever it takes, I'm on it!
